Target’s recent announcement is one that will have many customers shouting for joy.
Following in the footsteps of Aldi, the retailer announced Monday it would lower the price of thousands of basic items throughout the summer.
As Americans continue to struggle financially, Target is hoping its price cuts, already applied to 1,500 items, will help customers be able to better afford the basic necessities.
“Consumers will enjoy savings on everyday items such as milk, meat, bread, soda, fresh fruit and vegetables, snacks, yogurt, peanut butter, coffee, diapers, paper towels, pet food and more,” the company said in a statement.
According to an Associated Press report, the retailer plans to slash prices on 5,000 goods ranging from milk to diapers this summer in an effort to help consumers have the money for essential items despite inflation rates slowing.
The lower prices will include items sold by both national brands and Target’s own house brands.

“These reductions are in addition to our everyday low prices, which we routinely adjust to be competitive in the market and make sure you enjoy great value every day,” the company said in a statement.
