Struggling Grandpa Returns $43K He Found In Used Couch, Days Later He Gets A Call

When a struggling grandfather discovered $43,000 in a second-hand couch he bought, he refused to keep the money for himself even though he desperately needed it. After returning the cash, he received a phone call he never expected.

When Michigander Howard Kirby wanted a couch for his man cave, he headed to the Habitat for Humanity Restore in Owosso. He shelled out $70 for an old rustic couch and matching ottoman set that still had some life left in it. Little did he know, something extra was included with the antique furniture.

After complaining that the ottoman was oddly shaped and uncomfortable, Kirby’s daughter unzipped the cushion. From inside the padding, the woman pulled out banded stacks of $100 bills one after the other. When the pair added up the stacks, they counted a total of $43,170, Fox News reports.

“That’s when she started pulling out this,” Kirby told the station, holding up a fistful of cash. “I still have to pinch myself to make sure I’m not dreaming or something.”

Kirby had been through a lot. Within a year, he had gone through a devastating divorce, lost a close cousin to cancer, and survived losing a kidney after doctors discovered a tumor. He even allowed his son to move in with him after he lost his job. He counted all the ways he could use the money, including a new roof for his meager home or paying off his medical expenses, MLive reports. Then, he felt convicted.

“The Holy Spirit just came over me and said, ‘No, that’s really not yours,’” he said.

Although a lawyer assured him that he could legally keep the cash, Kirby knew it wouldn’t be right. Instead, he called up the thrift store and asked them to track down the person who donated the couch.

The store traced the furniture to Kim Fauth-Newberry, who had donated the couch belonging to her late grandfather. The woman was shocked, having no idea the money was in the ottoman. Kirby met up with the family and handed every penny over to the rightful owners.

“Being a born-again Christian, Christ in me is the one that actually gave the money back,” Kirby said. “Remember the bracelets, WWJD? Well, that’s what Jesus would do.”

While Kirby was content in knowing he had done the right thing, he still had to face his own financial struggles. Incredibly, just days after returning the money, he received a phone call. It was John Conversa with Eikenhout Building Supplies, telling Kirby the company was going to donate materials and hire a contractor to repair his roof.

Additionally, a good Samaritan started a Go Fund Me to help Kirby with his financial burdens and raised $16,000 for the struggling grandfather. Regardless of the support, Kirby says he would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

“I have had so much peace, so much joy because I did do it, that $43,000 never could buy that much joy or peace or happiness,” Kirby said.

As for the support and donations he received, Kirby says he is “blessed beyond words” and never expected such a big response.

“There is so much thankfulness, it boggles my mind sometimes what is happening for me,” Kirby said. “I’m just amazed by it.”

Thanks to caring donors, Howard Kirby is getting back on his feet again. He no longer has to worry about his roof and he is continuing to make repairs to his house as well as helping his own family get by.

Kirby is living proof that there are still people out there who care about others more than their own needs. Not only did he do the right thing by returning the money, but he serves as an example of love and kindness to others.

New USFL Will Fire Any Player Who Kneels For The Anthem “On The Spot”

The United States Football League may be young and struggling, but they definitely have a future. Unlike the NFL, the USFL’s fan base continues to grow as they implement new policies.

The latest to make the new fans happy is a complete ban on kneeling during the National Anthem. League Commissioner Joe Barron said the rule is strict and non-negotiable.

“We don’t want any of that nonsense,” said Barron, “people kneeling in protest hurts the troops. How could anyone want to do that? What did soldiers ever do to football players?”

The idea that US servicemen and women are somehow harmed by kneeling football players has been disputed for years, but data suggests that it may be one of the key factors in the 22 veteran suicide per day statistic, according to Tucker Carlson.

“Has anyone noticed that nobody gave a single bit of attention to white players when they protested injustice?” Carlson said he hasn’t seen Caucasians treated this poorly since they forced Jim McMahon to write “Rozelle” on a headband.

At any rate, the USFL is doing everything it can to attract those who have abandoned the NFL. They have an exclusive deal with Pabst for Blue Ribbon drafts, and all of the local drug stores have agreed to stock extra Sudafed on game days.

The league’s 8-week schedule opens sometime this year in one of the cities hosting a team. Tickets are most definitely still available. God Bless America.

Prayers needed for Rod Stewart

Sir Rod Stewart is a legendary British rock and pop legend. Having sold over 250 million records worldwide, he is among the best-selling music artists of all time.

In 2008, Billboard magazine ranked him the 17th most successful artist on the “Billboard Hot 100 All-Time Top Artists.” Stewart was inducted into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 as a solo artist, the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2006, and he was inducted a second time into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012 as a member of Faces.

Back in 2019, the Grammy and Brit Award recipient revealed that he had successfully been treated of prostate cancer which he battled for three years.

Stewart went public with his diagnosis at a fundraising event for the Prostate Project and European Tour Foundation charity in Surrey, England.

“No one knows this, but I thought this was about time I told everybody,” the father-of-eight said. “I’m in the clear, now, simply because I caught it early. I have so many tests.”

He then said he wanted to raise awareness and urged men to get checked on a regular basis to ensure early detection. “Guys, you’ve got to really go to the doctor. Finger up the bum, no harm done,” the musician whose hits include “Maggie May” and “I Don’t Want To Talk About It” added.

Prostate Cancer UK s the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men, and it’s estimated that by 2030, prostate cancer will be the most commonly diagnosed cancer overall.

This wasn’t the first time for Sir Rod Stewart to be diagnosed with cancer. In 2010, he felt a lump on his throat which turned out to be cancerous.

“I felt fearful, vulnerable to a degree that I never had before,” he later wrote in an autobiography, but the tumour was quickly removed. “No chemotherapy was required – which, in turn, meant there was no risk that I’d lose my hair,” he wrote. “And let’s face it: if we’re ranking threats to the survival of my career, losing my hair would be second only to losing my voice.”

Luckily, today he’s in great health.

The View Opens Auditions to Replace Whoopi Goldberg

ABC’s “The View” will open auditions to replace Whoopi Goldberg, according to a network release to shareholders obtained by ALLOD.

In the disclosure, CEO Joe Barron notified the board and majority owners that the controversies surrounding Goldberg have gotten out of hand and the lawsuits too numerous to count.

“We have no choice at this point but to quietly audition for a new lead host,” said Barron, “before Ms. Goldberg brings the whole thing down.”

We reached out to Whoopi for comment but hit a brick wall.

Her spokesman, Skip Tetheludah, told us that even if there wasn’t a restraining order in place, she wouldn’t bother responding to this “utter nonsense.”

“My client isn’t in danger of losing her job,” said Tetheludah, “especially as often as you take it away.” Whatever that means.

According to our sources, new hosts could include Alyssa Milano, Rachel Maddow, Laurie Metcalf, and Candace Cameron Bure.

As of yet, there is no official statement or press release but the information has been triple-sourced and double-verified.

We also watched several YouTube videos on the subject and discovered that taters are also beginning to really dislike Sunny Hostin. Dreads would seal that deal for sure.

On a lighter note, Roseanne’s new show in the same time slot should be fun now that Dennis Miller has signed on. Look for that one next, patriots.

Chris Punsalan is a young lad who often shares glimpses from his life on Instagram. Believed to be in his 20s, he’s a musician and content producer. However, something else has become an inseparable part of his formal and informal introduction.

Punsalan has been looking after his beloved lola (grandmother) for nearly seven years, with nothing but utmost dedication and love. Owing to the strong family system he grew up in, the young man decided to repay the lady who was a constant presence in his life.

Punsalan has been sharing pictures with his adorable lola since 2014. He decided to become her caregiver after realizing he was in a position to take on the responsibility. When asked why he wanted to care for her, Punsalan replied:

“Everybody else was working and I’d rather just take care of grandma because she took care of me [since I was young boy] and I don’t want to see her in home-care.”

Because of Punsalan’s efforts, his grandma has been able to stay home instead of spending the winter of her life in a home for the aged. The thoughtful grandson has looked after her without a frown and even spoils her with hugs, kisses, and other loving gestures.

Punsalan is gentle with the elderly woman, lifting her in his arms from her wheelchair to the bed and vice versa. He has even shared handy tips for caregivers, owing to his personal experience with his grandma.

DirecTV Will Drop ABC If They Don’t Cancel “The View”

“It’s a toxic show with horrible hosts.” That’s the word from Joe Barron, executive vice president in charge of programming at DirecTV.

The company, which has been trying tr re-brand itself with the rise of streaming services, believes this is the best way to keep a solid, happy customer base.

‘Look at Fox News,” said Barron, “while the cable industry in general begins its death throes, this one network has managed to keep its audience and even grow.”

Barron says doing away with shows such as “The View” is the best way to keep DirecTV’s most reliable customers.

“You have to think the way the Boomers think,” he told his coworkers at a symposium on further exploiting an entire generation in the Trump years, “They prefer not to.

They’d rather just turn on the TV and let their favorite personalities do that for them.”

DirecTV has secured a relationship with Fox through 2049.

ABC, however, still has some catching up to do.

It needs to compensate Roseanne for “The Connors,” and hire Gina Carano as an on-the-field commentator for the NFL.

She played in the league for three years as Larry Humbeckler of the Cleveland Browns before they moved to Baltimore.

ABC says it has no plans to cancel its number-one-rated daytime show and will instead “go the way of Sunday Ticket and help the slow death of DirecTV’s archaic platform go the way of the dodo.

For now, it seems the boomers will still have their Fox News, but they may have to miss out on Grey’s Anatomy. Is it worth it?

KARI LAKE SHARES THAT BUD LIGHT WAS THE ONLY BEER THAT DIDN’T RUN OUT AT THE OPEN BAR AT HER IOWA RALLY

Kari Lake piled on last night to the pushback against Bud Light after they partnered with transgender Dylan Mulvaney to promote their brand.

In a tweet, Lake announced, “I have to share something hilarious with you guys.”

“I’m in Iowa with hundreds of voters tonight for a rally. There was an open bar that RAN OUT of beer… Except for one brand… @budlight,” Lake explained.

Lake then added, “Go woke, go BROKE. Sad!”

As we previously reported, musicians Kid Rock, Travis Tritt, and John Rich have already taken a stand agains the brand, including its parent company Anheuser-Busch.

Prior to that tweet, Lake had retweeted a picture from the rally that was posted by Colton Duncan who said, “PACKED house for @KariLake in Iowa!”

Oli London shared a video from transgender Dylan Mulvaney on April 1. “Dylan Mulvaney has become the new brand ambassador for Bud Light.”

“The beer brand even made a special edition Dylan Mulvaney Can celebrating his 365 days of girlhood. (This is not April Fools, it’s actually real),” London explained.

TRAVIS TRITT HAS HAD ENOUGH, WILL BE REMOVING ALL ANHEUSER-BUSCH PRODUCTS FROM CONCERT TOUR, KNOWS MANY DOING THE SAME

Country singer Travis Tritt announced Wednesday, that he will be removing all Anheuser-Busch products from his tour hospitality rider.

Tritt no longer wants any association with the beverage company. This comes after Bud Light, an Anheuser-Busch brand gifted influencer Dylan Mulvaney with Bud Light cans showcasing the transgender activist’s face.

“I will be deleting all Anheuser-Busch products from my tour hospitality rider. I know many other artists who are doing the same.”

Tritt has also shared he isn’t alone in moving away from the brand after the revelation.

Mulvaney shared about the cans on social media in the same week that 6 people were killed in a targeted attack by a transgender individual at a Nashville Christian school, The Covenant School.

In response to a Twitter user asking for Bud related products, Tritt shared an image of the labels. This is so that people can be aware of what products Anheuser-Busch sells.

Editor of the Discern Report JD Rucker shared his support of Tritt’s action with, “Whatever it takes to spread the word.”

As Tritt mentioned other signers are moving away from being associated with Anheuser-Busch, John Rich asked for suggestions on what should replace Bud Light at his Nashville bar.

“What beer should my bar @rnrbarnash in Nashville replace #BudLight with?”

As the left pushes hard to make the public swallow their narrative, it seems a line has been crossed with messaging and timing in the eyes of many, and many people are pushing back against it.

At 7 weeks old, Zhavia is the second great-great-great-grandchild of Hawkins but her first great-great-great-granddaughter. According to Hawkins’ granddaughter, Gracie Howell, the family matriarch was thrilled to see everyone gathered together. The family plans to cherish the photograph as a symbol of their bond.

“We just kind of planned a day and we just all met and grandma knew we was coming,” the 58-year-old told “Good Morning America.” “She was excited. We had three hours with her.”

“The baby got a little fussy. She was like, ‘Here, give me that baby.’ I mean, she’s just a natural,’” Howell recalled.

In the photograph, taken by Howell’s sister Sheryl Blessing, the family members can be seen from left to right. It starts with Howell’s mother Frances Snow, followed by Howell, her daughter Jacqueline Ledford, her granddaughter and Zhavia’s mother Jaisline Wilson. In the center of the photo is Hawkins, holding her great-great-great-granddaughter Zhavia.

“I know it’s rare for six generations … it’s even rarer for all of them to be the same gender,” Howell added.” We’re all girls, girl power as well.”

Howell explained to “GMA” her grandmother married at 16 and eventually went on to remarry two more times.

According to a family-created chart, Hawkins has a large family with 13 children and 10 stepchildren. The 98-year-old matriarch currently has 623 descendants. Howell shared that according to their family story, Hawkins always made sure her children had a warm meal before school in the morning and in the evenings.

“She’s had a tough life. But she’s got a good spirit,” Howell said.
