This year has been a rough one when it comes to celebrity divorces, but it appears Reese Witherspoon and Kevin Costner are both bouncing back from their breakups … apparently, together! According to a new report, Reese and Kevin have been secretly dating following their high-profile splits earlier this year, and a source close to the possible couple says that they’ve been spending as much time as they can together in recent months. It sounds like this could be the real deal.
Their reported romance supposedly started off being all about business.
According to what a source who claims to be close to the new celebrity couple told Australian outlet New Idea, they’ve been trying to find the perfect project to pair up for, but in the process, it turned into more.
“Kevin’s had his eye on Reese ever since she won her Oscar, but he didn’t count on finding her absolutely charming as hell,” the source said. “They’ve been calling and texting on the pretense of finding the perfect script, but it’s becoming almost a daily occurrence.”
Considering that Reese’s Oscar win was in 2006 for Walk the Line, it sounds like she’s been on his radar for a long time.
After spending more time together, they’ve ‘hit it off.’
The source went on to say that Kevin and Reese have discovered that they’re “extremely compatible.”
But how have they managed to keep this romance under wraps so far? Reportedly, they’ve been meeting up at the Yellowstone star’s Colorado ranch, which allows them plenty of privacy.
They’re reportedly trying to avoid creating ‘tabloid headlines’ with their new relationship.
“He and Reese are always careful to not be seen together but as soon as his Horizon commitments are done, they may be more relaxed about being seen together in public. It’s still very early days,” the source said, adding that the pair’s friends are “giving them the space they need” to see if their romance truly does turn into something more.
They’re both coming out of public breakups.
After Reese and ex-husband Jim Toth went their separate ways in the spring of 2023, Kevin’s breakup from ex-wife Christine Baumgartner went public just a couple of months later. Though Kevin and Christine’s divorce is now finalized, it was a rather contentious split as they hashed out disputes around child support and the division of property all summer, making headlines along the way.
So far, Kevin and Reese both seem to be staying silent on the subject.
Neither of them have let on whether they’re dating again after their divorces — let alone dating each other! — so for now, we’ll just have to wait and see if they end up confirming or denying these rumors.
