Fans of The Golden Bachelor were left in shock as stars Gerry Turner and wife Theresa Nist announced their split after just three months of marriage on Friday (April 12).

The reality TV couple appeared on Good Morning America to share the news of their divorce, leaving many questions unanswered.

The pair exchanged vows in a Palm Springs ceremony on January 4, a moment broadcasted live on ABC.

However, the marriage didn’t last long, raising questions about whether the couple had entered into a prenuptial agreement and the fate of Theresa’s engagement ring.

During the interview, Nist sadly admitted that her Neil Lane diamond ring would no longer be hers. “I think that’s the rule, I think I have to give this ring back. Sad to say,” she sighed.

Turner chimed in, adding: “But, you know what, we don’t have to give back the memories.”

ABC anchor Juju Chang confirmed that the ex-couple did sign a prenuptial agreement, advising others to consider the same step.

Their engagement in November 2023 had garnered attention, especially due to Turner’s grand gesture with a custom-made princess cut ring. The ring, adorned with two baguette cut diamonds and 128 small round stones totaling 3.15 carats, held significant symbolism for the couple.

Turner spoke to People in December about the ring, stating: “The symbolism of it is so important. It was just like, the minute she slipped it on, again, it was like, ‘Oh, my god, this is that joyful happiness that I want to feel, that I want everyone to see.’”

Renowned jewelry designer Neil Lane provided insight into the creation of the ring, describing how special it was to craft something for two people getting a second chance at love.

“I think maybe we were losing the significance of a ring for a while, and now we have two people that really… that significance of the ring, even though it’s a small little jewel, it embodies their affection, their future, their lives together,” he told People. “It’s more profound in a way… maybe it’s a different profoundness.”

In their emotional Good Morning America interview on April 12, Turner revealed that he and Nist had numerous heartfelt conversations about their relationship and living arrangements, ultimately deciding to end their marriage.

“We just feel like it’s best for the happiness of each of us to live apart,” he explained. Despite the separation, Turner insisted he still had love for Nist, stating: “I still love this person. There’s no doubt in my mind.”

During the interview, the couple held hands and acknowledged that they are both still looking for love, just not with each other.
