On June 26, 2023, Celine’s team posted a video on her Instagram account with her song, “Waiting on You,” playing in the background. The post garnered over 50,000 likes.Within the comments section, many of the award-winning singer’s followers expressed concerns about her whereabouts, and someone asked, “Are you alive? Post a story.”
“The Power of Love” hitmaker’s last stage appearance was in London back in 2019. Celine later revealed she suffered from a rare illness. She released a video statement in December 2022 announcing that doctors had given her a heart-shattering health diagnosis.
She was diagnosed with “Stiff Person Syndrome,” which is a rare autoimmune neurological disorder affecting only “one in a million” people. Victims usually suffer from muscle spasms often triggered by noise, touch, or stress.
Celine’s last social media activity was on December 24, 2022, when she posted a video wishing her 6.1 million followers well for the holidays. “Merry Christmas, everyone. Wishing you love, happiness, [and] the best of health. Bye. Bye,” she said.
Celine’s Sister Provides Rare Health Update
The Grammy Award winner’s sister Claudette recently revealed that she is not allowing her health to deter her. Claudette shared that when she calls her famous sibling, and she happens to be busy, she talks to their other sister Linda who is living with the “I’m Alive” singer.
According to Linda, the Hollywood star is focusing on listening to researchers who specialize in the rare disease field to learn as much as she can about it.
Claudette said the 55-year-old needs to take it easy and get enough rest, “She always goes above and beyond; she always tries to be the best and top of her game.” The mother of three is also said to be disciplined in every aspect of her life, which is inherent to her.
The concerned sister stated that when one’s heart and body start acting up, it is important to pay attention to them. As for Celine’s recovery, the family remains hopeful that she will eventually find a rehabilitation that will work for her.
