People Who Rented a Place and Got Into Trouble

Renting a home isn’t always easy. People often find problems with the place only after moving in and signing the lease. Sometimes, landlords don’t let you use the air conditioner in hot weather or enter the house without warning. Reading these stories shows how hard it can be to find a good place to live.

The Story:
Recently, the landlady called and told me I had 2 days to move out because her relatives were coming, and she wanted them to stay in my apartment. I begged her for more time, but she said no. I was desperate because I knew I couldn’t find a new place in just 2 days.

By a miracle, I found a new flat. My manager noticed I was upset and asked what was wrong. I told him everything, and he said his wife had an empty apartment where I could stay. I was so happy, packed my things, and moved out.

Then, suddenly, the landlady of the old flat called me again and said the plans had changed, and I could stay. I refused. She tried to convince me and even lowered the rent (I always paid on time and kept the place clean, which she liked). But I still said no. She kicked me out like I was nothing, and now she wants me back—I don’t like it.
