I Refused to Split My Son’s Inheritance With My Other Son

My oldest son inherited $300k from his late dad. I’ll manage it until he’s 18. My husband says we should use some of it for our other son’s education. I refused and he shouted, “Our son will end up hating you! You’re a bad mom, you don’t deserve to be his mother!” I stayed silent.

The next day, I came home and froze in shock: I found my house unusually silent and my younger son was not in his room: his belongings had vanished-his clothes, toys, and books… they were all gone. In our bedroom, my husband’s things were missing too. On the bed, there was a note: “If you’re so determined to put your older son first, my son and I will leave you to it for a week or two. I doubt you’ll miss us.” My world shattered. I know he’s taken our son to “teach me a lesson,” but I’m devastated.

Was I really a bad mother? I was only trying to be fair to my oldest.
