A married couple were asleep when the phone rang at 2 in the morning. The wife (a blonde) picked up the phone, listened for a moment, and said,
“How should I know? That’s 200 miles from here!” and hung up.
Curious, the husband said, “Who was that?”
And his lovely wife replies,
“Some guy asking for directions to a place I’ve never heard of!” she says with a shrug.
The husband, still half asleep, raises an eyebrow. “But… why would you say it’s 200 miles away?”
The wife looks at him with a grin, “Well, it sounded like a wrong number, and he seemed so lost! Figured he was probably calling from halfway across the country and needed some help.”
The husband, now fully awake and starting to get suspicious, asks, “Wait a minute. You just told him it was 200 miles away? Without even asking where he was calling from?”
She shrugs again. “What was I supposed to do? He sounded desperate, and I was too tired to get into it. Besides, I didn’t want to keep him on the phone.”
The husband sits up in bed. “Wait, what did he actually ask for?”
The wife pauses, scratching her head. “Uh… directions to a brothel.”
The husband’s jaw drops. “A brothel? At 2 in the morning?!”
“Yep, and I told him, ‘Good luck, buddy. You’ve got a long way to go!’”
The husband’s eyes widen. “So you didn’t even ask him where he was calling from?”
The wife shrugs once more. “Nah. I figured if he was calling at that hour, it was probably his best option! Anyway, I went back to sleep.”
The husband can’t believe what he’s hearing. “You just… let some guy think you knew where a brothel was 200 miles away?!”
She giggles, “Well, you know, I did sound very confident, didn’t I? Maybe he found it!”
A beat passes before the husband, still trying to process what just happened, shakes his head and says, “You’re absolutely wild, you know that?”
She smirks. “Oh, honey, when you’re married to a blonde, you get surprises like this all the time!”
And with that, the two of them laugh, realizing that in the middle of the night, there’s no telling what might happen. But at least it wasn’t a wrong number about where you should be going…
