The bathing suit blended in with the water.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is not with a whole bunch of other kids playing, splashing around and having a good time. Even look in the sunlight, look how difficult it is to see her with that bathing suit on \u2019cause it\u2019s the same color as our environment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newzdiscover.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/swimming-pool.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"630\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8159\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newzdiscover.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/swimming-pool.jpg 640w, https:\/\/newzdiscover.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/swimming-pool-300x295.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><br \/>\nPhoto by Thom Milkovic on Unsplash<\/p>\n<p>While growing up her mother dressed her and her other siblings in bright colors so she could keep track of them, so she had assumed the practice was well known.<\/p>\n<p>But Scarnati said when she became an educator she realized not that many people knew about dressing children in bright colors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the industry, it\u2019s kind of widely known that blue bathing suits are problematic in pools and open water. So it was just one of the many things that I could help educate parents on, that would be applicable to really everyone,\u201d she told Good Morning America.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBlues are very common in bathing suit color and I think that [fuels] the frustration for a lot of professionals that work with children, especially in a pool setting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newzdiscover.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/pool.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8160\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newzdiscover.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/pool.jpg 640w, https:\/\/newzdiscover.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/pool-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><br \/>\nPhoto by Alexandr Podvalny on Unsplash<\/p>\n<p>Scarnati recommends parents purchase bathing suit colors that \u201care going to stand out in the environment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the end of the day, drowning is the No. 1 cause of death in children under 4 and the second in children 5 to 12, so if I can give as many tips as possible to parents to help them make better decisions \u2026 just to help drowning statistics lower a little bit, then I\u2019ve done my job,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>It never occurred to me that the color of a bathing suit could make it more difficult to spot someone in the water.<\/p>\n<p>Please share this important PSA to warn others!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Summer is just around the corner which means it\u2019s time to think about water safety.
