Neither King Charles nor Queen Camilla said anything \u2013 but last Friday, Kate confirmed that she had received a cancer diagnosis.<\/p>\n

The exact details surrounding Kate\u2019s cancer aren\u2019t known, and the palace has said she wants them to remain private. Meanwhile, during Easter, the family spent plenty of time together, as they stayed at Anmer Hall at Sandringham for several weeks. <\/p>\n

Luckily, one family member has had experience dealing with negative comments from both the media and the public: Queen Camilla. \nWhile it, of course, is a severe diagnosis, Kate, when sitting at a bench in the garden at Windsor, reassured fans \u2013 just like she did with her children \u2013 that she is \u201cgoing to be ok.\u201d<\/p>\n

I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you, personally, for all the wonderful messages of support and for your understanding whilst I have been recovering from surgery.<\/p>\n

It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family, but I\u2019ve had a fantastic medical team who have taken great care of me, for which I am so grateful.<\/p>\n

In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London, and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team, therefore, advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.<\/p>\n

This, of course, came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.<\/p>\n

As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them and to reassure them that I am going to be ok.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe now need some time, space, and privacy\u201d
\nAs I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body, and spirits.<\/p>\n

Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance, too. As is the love, support, and kindness that has been shown by so many of you. It means so much to us both.<\/p>\n

We hope that you will understand that, as a family, we now need some time, space, and privacy while I complete my treatment. My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy, and I look forward to being back when I am able, but for now, I must focus on making a full recovery.<\/p>\n

At this time, I am also thinking of all those whose lives have been affected by cancer. For everyone facing this disease, in whatever form, please do not lose faith or hope. You are not alone.<\/p>\n

As Kate Middleton revealed, the news became a \u201chuge shock\u201d to her family. Meanwhile, one can only imagine how Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis took the news. The young children \u2013 ten-year-old George, eight-year-old Charlotte, and five-year-old Louis \u2013 are Prince William and Kate Middleton\u2019s biggest priority and will always be.<\/p>\n

Exactly when George, Charlotte, and Louis were notified about their mother\u2019s cancer diagnosis is unclear.<\/p>\n

\nHowever, according to the Sunday Times, the cancer announcement video was released just a few hours after their children\u2019s school had closed so that they wouldn\u2019t immediately face questions about it from their friends. At that point, they had gotten the news.<\/p>\n

\u201cGeorge is ten now and can\u2019t be shielded from any of this now,\u201d a palace source told the Times. \u201cOnce it\u2019s at the school gate and in the school playground, he won\u2019t be able to avoid it.\u201d<\/p>\n

So, how do you tell your children that you have cancer? One person, King Charles\u2019 former butler Grant Harrold, argues that Prince William and Kate Middleton explained it differently to them.<\/p>\n

Speaking with The Post, Harrold, who worked for Charles for seven years when he was the Prince of Wales, said that the couple most likely \u201csugarcoated\u201d her health issues when they broke the news to Prince Louis.<\/p>\n

\nMoreover, Harrold stated that since Louis is only five, it\u2019s fair to assume that the young prince \u201cprobably doesn\u2019t understand too much\u201d about his mother\u2019s cancer diagnosis.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a tricky one. I\u2019m sure the children will be handling it as any kids would be expected to handle it, but I think their parents are very good at being calm and collected, and I think that will rub off on the children,\u201d he told the NY Post.<\/p>\n

As the royal children won\u2019t be back in school until April 17, Prince William and Kate Middleton decided to head to Anmer Hall to spend quality time together.
