Though the grandfather, a retired soldier, was unable to be at the ceremony where his grandson received the rank of commissioned officer, the young man drove five hours to include the family patriarch in the honors.<\/p>\n
Standing on the elderly man\u2019s porch as the door is opened, the young man cheerfully says, \u201cHello!\u201d<\/p>\n

When his grandpa sees the man standing there in his uniform, he proudly responds, \u201cThat\u2019s a sharp cookie.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cLieutenant, I want to ask you a question,\u201d the old man says. \u201cMay I be the one\u2026the lucky one to give you the first salute?\u201d<\/p>\n
Eagerly accepting the offer, the soldier steps back on the porch, allowing some space for his grandfather.<\/p>\n
Though the lieutenant\u2019s face is facing his grandpa and away from the camera, viewers can still see there\u2019s a smile stretched across his face.<\/p>\n
Addressing him as \u201csir,\u201d the two salute one another, shake hands and then embrace.<\/p>\n
