\u201dI was on vacation in Cabo San Lucas with my entire family, and a man asked me to cover myself. I\u2019m usually discreet but we were seated in the back of the restaurant,\u201d Melanie told Yahoo.<\/p>\n
A friend\u2019s daughter-in-law was told to \u201ccover up\u201d while feeding her baby, so she did!\ud83e\udd23 I\u2019ve never met her, but I think\u2026\u201cI did have the cover on, but it was so hot. It was like, 95 degrees, and my little baby was sweating,\u201d the Texan told TODAY.<\/p>\n
\u201cI said, \u2018You know what? I\u2019m on vacation, I\u2019m taking this off.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
Melanie couldn\u2019t see the problem, but the man in question did. So, Melanie responded by putting the cover over her head, instead, which left the restaurant in fits of laughter.<\/p>\n
\u201dI just put it over my head. I don\u2019t know why. It wasn\u2019t like a salacious fight or anything. That was just my response. I had no words, so I thought, I\u2019ll just cover my head instead,\u201d the woman explained.Another woman took a photo of Melanie and uploaded it to her Facebook. The resulting post quickly garnered plenty of attention and has now been shared over 225,000 times.<\/p>\n
Melanie\u2019s picture got a lot of attention, and many praised her for the courage to publish it. Of course, she wasn\u2019t the first woman to be criticized for breastfeeding in public, but Melanie\u2019s creative response made the picture go viral, and the discussion flared up in a way that caused significant news agencies to cover the topic.<\/p>\n
