After adopting 17-year-old Anthony Mutabazi in 2019, Peter recently welcomed 8-year-old Isabella and 7-year-old Luke into his home.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s absolutely a joy,\u201d the 49-year-old dad shares with PEOPLE. \u201cI can be their forever home.\u201d.<\/p>\n
Through his Instagram handle, @fosterdadflipper, he shares his journey as a foster dad.<\/p>\n
His message?<\/p>\n
Families don\u2019t need to share the same skin color.<\/p>\n
He hopes to inspire other men to step up and be active, loving fathers.<\/p>\n
He\u2019s deeply committed to reuniting foster children with their biological parents.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am a foster parent that will always, always fight for the bio parent to have their kids back,\u201d he passionately states.<\/p>\n
Yet, he assures his foster kids that if they can\u2019t return to their biological families, his home is theirs forever.<\/p>\n

Flashback to May 2020: Brenlynn, a 5-year-old girl, and Koleman, a 4-year-old boy, arrived at Peter\u2019s North Carolina residence.<\/p>\n
These children, affected by their parents\u2019 drug-related neglect, were initially meant to stay with Peter for just four months.<\/p>\n
However, as months rolled on, their biological parents became distant, ceasing visits and calls.<\/p>\n
Peter recalls, \u201cI\u2019m a Black guy, they are white kids. They\u2019re looking for a family member. But that never happened. No one took them in, no one claimed them.\u201d<\/p>\n
This was a bittersweet moment for Peter.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s when I knew that now, I can finally be their dad,\u201d he reflects.<\/p>\n
Yet, the weight of the children\u2019s loss was palpable.<\/p>\n
\u201cI cried all day,\u201d he admits. \u201cThe kids literally have a parent they dreamt could come back for them. But they\u2019ve just given up. It\u2019s a loss. I felt the loss for them.\u201d<\/p>\n
He gently explained that their biological parents wouldn\u2019t return but reassured them of their permanent place in his heart and home.<\/p>\n
Describing his newly adopted son, Peter says Luke is \u201ckind and sweet\u201d with a love for drawing.<\/p>\n
As for Isabella, she\u2019s a lively girl who enjoys playing outdoors and aspires to be a veterinarian.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe\u2019s the boss of the house,\u201d Peter chuckles.<\/p>\n
To protect their identities, he uses pseudonyms for his foster kids and has them sport sunglasses.<\/p>\n
Currently, \u201cBella\u201d, a 2-year-old, is one of the foster children in his home.<\/p>\n
Additionally, he recently welcomed two refugee siblings from Senegal, emphasizing, \u201cThey have a mom who loves them.\u201d<\/p>\n
Peter\u2019s mission is clear: to provide a loving, stable home for children, regardless of their skin color.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019re white, I\u2019m Black, but somehow we can still provide that normalcy and what every child needs: A family,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n
Having penned a book titled \u201cNow I Am Known\u201d and founded a charity, Peter\u2019s dedication to foster children is unwavering.<\/p>\n
His hope for the future?<\/p>\n
To foster and adopt even more children.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s so many kids that need a home,\u201d he says. \u201cIf I can help two more, I\u2019ll be more than happy.\u201d<\/p>\n
