A few years ago, Jimmy Carter, who celebrated his 99th birthday on October 1, shared his insights in an intimate reflection on his longevity. The oldest living president in American history attributed his enduring years to a simple, yet profound secret: \u201cMarry the best spouse: someone who will take care of you and engage and do things to challenge you and keep you alive and interested in life.\u201d He and his wife, Rosalynn Carter, who tied the knot in 1946, continued to cherish their life together despite acknowledging their physical frailty.<\/p>\n
