A friendship was formed with an unexpected person when Mr. Charles, a school bus driver for Berkeley County School District, met Kameron, a Cane Bay Elementary student who has just finished kindergarten.<\/p>\n

Kameron is the second pickup and drop-off of Mr. Charles during weekday mornings and afternoons out of the 70 students who regularly ride the bus.<\/p>\n

His mom, Kelly Eisenberg, said, \u201cWe found that he was having a lot of negative behavior issues that landed him in the principal\u2019s office several times a day almost every single day.\u201d<\/p>\n

When Mr. Charles noticed Kameron\u2019s behavior, he knew he needed to step up and help the kid.<\/p>\n

\u201cI said, \u2018Look, you my little buddy,\u2019\u201d said Mr. Charles in an interview. And I said, \u2018We\u2019re going to do this together and every day that you be good, Mr. Charles is going to have a prize for you on a Friday,\u2019\u201d he further added.<\/p>\n

Since that conversation, changes in Kameron\u2019s behavior were noticed, and they were all positive.<\/p>\n

Stephanie Williams, one of Kameron\u2019s teachers and a special education teacher at Cane Bay Elementary, was one of the people who noticed Kameron\u2019s improvements.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd ever since that day, there\u2019s not been a problem,\u201d Williams shared.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s been fantastic and wonderful. Trying new things,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

Eisenberg felt relieved knowing that her son has been doing great and that he is safe with Mr. Charles.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s like night and day,\u201d Eisenberg told the news agency in an interview.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd all it took was one special person to give Kameron a little bit of his time and it just made all the difference in the world, for both Kameron and ourselves,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Mr. Charles switched school districts to drive for Berkeley County, and the reason was for a new environment.<\/p>\n

He did not know that it had a greater purpose, through his friendship with Kameron.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s very special to me and I\u2019m just hoping that it\u2019ll always be that way,\u201d Mr. Charles shared in an interview.<\/p>\n

Williams also told the news that in her 20 years of teaching, the common scenario is that teachers are partnered with kids for mentorship.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve never seen an instance where one child\u2019s attitude, behavior, and outlook on everything has completely done a 180 like Kameron\u2019s did with Mr. Charles,\u201d she explained further.<\/p>\n

Mr. Charles even went as far as attending to Kameron\u2019s baseball games on weekends.<\/p>\n

Talk about commitment.<\/p>\n

Both of them have plans to continue their routine over the summer before going back to their regular school bus rides in the fall.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe told me a couple of months ago, \u2018I want you to drive my bus in Elementary, Middle School, and High School,\u2019\u201d Mr. Charles mentioned in an interview.<\/p>\n

He answered that as long as Kameron\u2019s there, he will.<\/p>\n

Such a great story of an unlikely friendship that will surpass time, as long as Mr. Charles is there, Kameron will always have a buddy to share all his adventures.<\/p>\n
