Formula One fans will be well acquainted with the sort of shenanigans Martin Brundle gets up to during his grid walks.<\/p>\n

Wandering down the way armed with a Sky Sports microphone he gets all sorts of interviews, often with famous faces who\u2019ve turned up to the races.<\/p>\n

Just recently he had an odd episode with rapper Machine Gun Kelly, real name Colson Baker, after Brundle was asked to provide his \u2018best air guitar\u2019 and declined since he\u2019d always been more of a piano man.<\/p>\n

MGK then asked Brundle for an \u2018air piano and air guitar collaboration\u2019 but the interviewer said no, leading Kelly to head off.<\/p>\n

Kelly has responded to some of the backlash he received after people called it \u2018the cringiest of cringe\u2019, calling out his critics by saying he had been surprised by \u2018a random interview when I was just trying to enjoy an event\u2019 and that the car engines were so loud he couldn\u2019t hear Brundle.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s by no means the only awkward moment that\u2019s come from Brundle\u2019s grid walks and eventually there was a \u2018Martin Brundle clause\u2019 introduced to Formula One.<\/p>\n

It was put in place after Brundle tried to speak with Megan Thee Stallion at the 2021 United States Grand Prix and asked her if she had an impromptu rap ready before being ushered away by her security.<\/p>\n

Brundle said that following that episode Formula One introduced a new rule that celebrities walking on the grid could not bring security with them.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for F1 confirmed at the time that stars on the grid \u2018aren\u2019t obliged to do interviews\u2019 but their security detail are \u2018no longer allowed to accompany them\u2019.<\/p>\n

Basically, Formula One believes the grid is safe enough that celebs don\u2019t need to bring their security along meaning there\u2019s not a ring of protection to keep Martin Brundle away, but there is no obligation to do interviews if someone sticks a microphone in your face.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year Brundle ended up having an awkward moment with actor and model Cara Delevingne after she didn\u2019t want to be interviewed at Silverstone.<\/p>\n

Brundle told her \u2018the deal is everyone has to speak on the grid\u2019, only for Delevingne to say she couldn\u2019t really hear him over the noise.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll right, well I\u2019m sure it would have been extremely interesting,\u201d was Brundle\u2019s response to that.<\/p>\n

Delevingne later took to social media to say she\u2019d been \u2018told to say no\u2019 by an F1 representative who was with her and she still had lots of fun at the races.<\/p>\n

Alfa Romeo, the team which had invited her to the British Grand Prix as a guest, later said: \u201cRespect goes both ways: nobody should be placed in an uncomfortable situation or forced to do things against their will.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
