{"id":4496,"date":"2023-11-07T04:51:58","date_gmt":"2023-11-07T03:51:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newzdiscover.com\/?p=4496"},"modified":"2023-11-07T04:51:58","modified_gmt":"2023-11-07T03:51:58","slug":"dog-found-wandering-streets-of-detroit-with-stuffed-animal-gets-rescued","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newzdiscover.com\/?p=4496","title":{"rendered":"Dog found wandering streets of Detroit with stuffed animal gets rescued"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was a heartbreaking sight: a German Shepherd was spotted wandering around on her own in the streets of Detroit, with nothing but her favorite stuffed animal to keep her company.<\/p>\n<p>But now, this beautiful dog is safe and sound after being rescued.<\/p>\n<p>According to FOX 2 Detroit, locals saw the dog wandering the streets and, although she is a female, they called her \u201cNicholas.\u201d Neighbors reported that the dog became homeless after her owner passed away.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newzdiscover.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/343988147_777092624129262_4112673767001375705_n-708x1536-1-472x1024-1.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"472\" height=\"1024\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4497\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newzdiscover.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/343988147_777092624129262_4112673767001375705_n-708x1536-1-472x1024-1.webp 472w, https:\/\/newzdiscover.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/343988147_777092624129262_4112673767001375705_n-708x1536-1-472x1024-1-138x300.webp 138w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 472px) 100vw, 472px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As the dog\u2019s story spread, a number of local groups \u2014 including It Is Pawzable Dog Training, South Lyon Murphy Lost Animal Recovery, Sugar Mutts Dog Grooming, and Almost Home Animal Rescue \u2014 came together to trap the dog and get her to safety.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverybody comes together and works as a team, which is so amazing,\u201d Katrina Weaver, the owner of It Is Pawzable, told FOX 2.<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully, their rescue mission was a success: Almost Home No Kill Rescue reported on May 3 that the dog had successfully been trapped and was now in their care. They renamed \u201cNicholas\u201d \u201cNikki,\u201d because she\u2019s a female dog.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newzdiscover.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/344863244_1382682585888320_6379503603267676446_n.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4498\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newzdiscover.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/344863244_1382682585888320_6379503603267676446_n.webp 450w, https:\/\/newzdiscover.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/344863244_1382682585888320_6379503603267676446_n-225x300.webp 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnly good things from here and onto a better life!\u201d the rescue wrote on Facebook. \u201cThanks for all your support Nikki will now get to be in a loving home!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There is one complication: Nikki reportedly has heartworm, which will require four weeks of treatment. Nikki is now taking it easy, receiving medication and going on leash walks.
