Dolly Parton, Country Music Legend, Dead at 80<\/p>\n
Dolly Parton wanted her final resting place to be as comfortable as a bed of yellow roses.<\/p>\n
After the country music legend died at the age of 80, her nephew Brian Seaver revealed the humble place she wanted to be buried after living her life in the spotlight.<\/p>\n
\u201cDolly was a farmer, just like her daddy,\u201d Seaver said in a video shared to Parton\u2019s Instagram Aug. 25. \u201cHe farmed the soil. She farmed songs and happiness. Dolly called me and said she wants to rest in a beautiful bed of plush cotton because after a life wearing heavy rhinestones, she finally deserves to be comfortable and have some rest.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cRest in peace, Aunt Dolly, Aunt Granny, Gigi,\u201d he continued. \u201cMay God bless Dolly Parton, and may God bless you all. She will always love you.\u201d<\/p>\n
Following her death, Seaver shared more insight into his aunt\u2019s wishes, including how the \u201cYellow Roses\u201d singer wanted the world to find out about her passing.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis video announcement is something Dolly asked of me years ago before I fully absorbed it as a future reality,\u201d he explained. \u201cAs her head of security for more than two decades\u2014a role my father Larry held before me\u2014I have imagined the heaviness of this moment but haven\u2019t truly felt it until now.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is an honor, an honor that is mixed with absolute pride and great sadness,\u201d he said. \u201cBut sadness lies with us, not with Dolly.\u201d<\/p>\n
Above all, she took pride in the impact she had on everyone she loved\u2014and who loved her.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy her example, we believed that anything was possible,\u201d he said. \u201cShe never saw a door she couldn\u2019t open, and the doors she opened made and changed history. My family and I have shared a lifetime of beautiful memories with Dolly but so have you.\u201d<\/p>\n
Before her death, the \u201c9 to 5\u201d hitmaker shared she was dealing with various health complications, which forced her to take a step back from the spotlight.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve been not touring, as you know,\u201d Parton said during a rare in-person appearance at her Dollywood theme park in March. \u201cI\u2019ve had a few little health issues, and we\u2019re taking good care of them.\u201d<\/p>\n
Parton added that she needed some time to recover after getting \u201cworn down and worn out grieving over\u201d her late husband Carl Dean, who died at 82 in March 2025.<\/p>\n
At the time, she shut down any rumors that she\u2019d be retiring.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve just been doing a lot of writing, a lot of thinking, a lot of praying and a lot of getting ready for a lot of new stuff coming up for the rest of this whole year,\u201d she shared. \u201cSo, be ready for me. I ain\u2019t done, I ain\u2019t near done.\u201d<\/p>\n
