As pretty much everything President Donald Trump does, his State of the Union speech has also attracted the attention of many, this time, however, because something in it was obviously missing.<\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s State of the Union speech on February 24, 2026, lasted 1 hours and 48 minutes, becoming the longest ever recorded address in US history, a record previously held by former President Bill Clinton for his State of the Union in 2000, which lasted 1 hour and 28 minutes, according to the American Presidency Project.<\/p>\n

Among the rest, Trump highlighted the strong economy, took aim at the Democrats, and made only a short mention of foreign policy.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur nation is back: bigger, better, richer and stronger than ever before,\u201d Trump said at the beginning of his speech.<\/p>\n

While the speech was quite partisan, there were a few instances where both parties unified, such as when he introduced the US men\u2019s hockey team and called for Congress to pass a bill that would prevent members of Congress from profiting from insider information.<\/p>\n

Trump commented on the applause, saying, \u201cThey stood up for that, I can\u2019t believe it,\u201d USA Today reported.<\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s low approval rating on the economy poses a major challenge for the GOP heading into the midterms, and his State of Union speech was an opportunity for him to try and change the narrative.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe roaring economy is roaring like never before,\u201d the president said, highlighting declines in gas and grocery prices, mortgage rates, and rent. However, his optimistic view clashes with public perception, which could create risks for his party.<\/p>\n

With many Americans rating his handling of inflation poorly, Trump continued to pin the blame for rising costs on the Democrats. \u201cYou caused that problem,\u201d he said, while repeatedly labeling Democrats \u201csick people.\u201d He went on to criticize them for not standing to show support for his immigration policies, and told them, \u201cYou should be ashamed of yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n

Further, Trump praised the country\u2019s past achievements and painted an optimistic picture of the nation\u2019s future.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese first 250 years were just the beginning,\u201d he said, adding the \u201cgolden age of America is now upon us.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe revolution that began in 1776 has not ended \u2014 it still continues, because the flame of liberty and independence still burns in the hearts of every American patriot,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

As expected, Trump spoke on the tariffs and described the Supreme Court\u2019s decision as an \u201cunfortunate ruling.\u201d Further, he revealedhis plans on implementing new tariff method he called \u201ctime-tested and approved.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, despite his rather long and detailed address, Trump did skip a topic many Americans were eager to hear him elaborate on.<\/p>\n

Namely, Trump has repeatedly spoke of the possibility of funding every American with a $2,000 stimulus check, funded in part by tariffs he has imposed. However, during his State of the Union speech, he didn\u2019t mention that, leaving many disappointed.<\/p>\n

People commented this moment on the social media, with one person writing, \u201cDidn\u2019t he say everyone\u2019s getting a stimulus check then said \u2018I forgot.\u2019 Never trust trump.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another commented: \u201cI wish we would have gotten our $2,000 stimulus check would been nice [sic],\u201d and a third asked \u201cWhere\u2019s the $2k stimulus check he promised us?\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump highlighted his TrumpRx website, designed to help uninsured Americans get more affordable medications. He also discussed an executive order stopping Wall Street firms from buying single-family homes in bulk and touched on last week\u2019s Supreme Court ruling that struck down major parts of the reciprocal tariffs he put in place last year.<\/p>\n
