\nMy friendship with my cousin Sarah has always been rough. She\u2019s loud and bubbly, and she also loves being the center of attention. And because of that, everyone in our family paid attention to her. It made more sense to have Sarah get the attention than ourselves.<\/p>\n
My family was really happy for me when Michael and I got engaged after being together for four years.<\/p>\n
Sarah even planned a night out for all of my best friends and our girl cousins. We kept the party going at an Airbnb because I was the first one of us to get engaged.<\/p>\n
Sarah came up to me with a glass of champagne that night.<\/p>\n

We chose the pattern and materials for weeks. After reading a lot of magazines and blogs, I finally came up with an idea.<\/p>\n
I met Sarah at her office one day, ready for her to take my last measures so she could start making my dress.<\/p>\n

When I walked in, she said, \u201cOh, honey.\u201d \u201cMichael called me and told me everything that was going on.\u201d \u201cBut I\u2019ve seen worse things and made them better a hundred times over.\u201d<\/p>\n
I showed her the dress and said, \u201cThis could be tricky.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cTrust me, honey, I\u2019ve seen everything.\u201d She laughed and said, \u201cLet\u2019s make this work.\u201d<\/p>\n
We took the original design and made it into something totally different. A stylish, short party dress that was a bit daring and edgy for a wedding.<\/p>\n
But it was beautiful. It was fun, flirty, and just right for me, which is exactly what Sarah\u2019s dress wasn\u2019t.<\/p>\n
My heart beat fast when it was time to walk down the aisle. I stood in front of the mirror in the bridal suite at the wedding setting. I looked lovely. I looked and felt beautiful.<\/p>\n
My dad\u2019s jaw dropped when he walked into the room to get me.<\/p>\n
