A DNA test proved….A woman’s mother-in-law accused her of being unfaithful and said her husband couldn’t be the child’s father. A DNA test proved her wrong, but it also uncovered the most shocking truth no one imagined.

“You are a-” my mother-in-law, Georgia, glared with a smirk. But my husband, Lars, stopped her before she could say the insult.

“Mother! You will not talk to my wife like this. Say sorry right now!” he insisted after the huge scene his mother had caused.

Georgia and my father-in-law, Manny, had come over to see our child for the first time since he was born at the hospital. They had only caught a quick look of him at the delivery ward, but we asked all our family to give us space, as just three of us, to connect and adjust to this new, wonderful reality.

But a month went by, and we welcomed people over. It was finally time for Georgia and Manny to come, and although they had acted fine at the hospital, I was nervous. My mother-in-law never liked me much, and finding fault with me was her favorite pastime, apparently.

However, I couldn’t block them from coming, mainly because others had already posted pictures on social media with my baby. Therefore, Lars invited them, and it was supposed to be a lovely evening.

I sensed something was wrong as soon as she walked in the door. I tried to be courteous and offered her some time with Lars Jr., but things quickly fell apart as Georgia refused to do it.

She shook her head and shouted, “I knew it. I knew it! I knew it! I knew it!”

“What did you know, Mom? What’s happening?” Lars asked, puzzled. He gave me a quick glance as if I had the answers, but I was just as shocked by her outburst.

“That baby is not my grandson! Lars, listen to me. You’re not the father! Barbara is clearly cheating on you! Look at him! His nose is totally different, and his skin tone is not like our family!” Georgia continued, and I couldn’t hide my anger anymore.

“Excuse me?” I asked, hurt.

“Mother! That’s ridiculous! You have no right to make such an accusation. Barbara has never been unfaithful to me, and I know that this baby is my son. 100%!” Lars stood up for me, but his mother was furious, and her dramatics were about to get worse.

She began insulting me, but my husband cut her off, asking her to apologize again. That was when my father-in-law stepped in. She calmed down and let her husband speak.

“Lars, listen to your mother. She has a gut feeling for these things,” Manny suggested calmly. I just shook my head at the man. He and I have never had issues, mostly because he was quiet. But I knew for a fact that he was his wife’s supporter. I was not sure if he truly believed I cheated or if he was just going along.

“Dad! How can you say that? In our home? Right in front of my wife?” Lars challenged, and I heard the hurt in his voice. He wanted this moment to be special, but they had spoiled it with these claims.

Manny raised his hands. “There’s a easy solution here. You can get a DNA test, and we’ll see the truth,” he continued, shaking his head as if it was the simplest option in the world. I still couldn’t believe it, but I was speechless.

“No!”

“YOU WILL GET THAT TEST NOW!” his mother erupted after being silent for only a few minutes, and I jumped at that.

“That’s it. Leave my house. If you don’t want to meet your grandson, that’s fine with me,” I told them and took my child to the nursery.

I heard some more shouting, but my husband eventually made them go. When the baby fell asleep, I went to the living room, and we talked for a while. We agreed that we would keep distance from them until they said sorry.

Unfortunately, my mother-in-law convinced her side of the family that I had cheated and that the baby was not Lars’. We were getting texts from everyone. Some demanded we get a DNA test and others attacked me. People I hadn’t even met did this.

I finally broke down. I couldn’t handle it anymore. I also saw the pain in my husband’s eyes every time he heard a ping on my phone. “Let’s do it. Let’s get the DNA test and quiet them all for good,” I told him, and we did.

Unsurprisingly, Lars was clearly the father, but we had to call the in-laws to our house once again to show them the results.

“This can be faked. What did you do?” Georgia scoffed at me after handing the results to her husband.

“I didn’t do anything. Lars took the baby alone to get tested. I was not there at all,” I sighed.

“Mom, there’s the test you wanted. I’m the father. Now, will you stop this, and just love your first grandchild?” my husband pleaded, and although he tried to hide it, I knew how much he had hurt. I disliked her for it, but I would be polite for his sake.

“Fine,” she said but kept her arms crossed, not looking at her grandson, who was on the living room crib we had purchased. Lars’s head dropped, and I patted his back.

But Manny finally spoke up after studying the results quietly for a while. “Wait a minute, Lars’s blood is B+? How come I never knew this?” he asked, staring at both her son and his wife.

Lars shrugged. “I don’t know.”

“Maybe, you forgot about it or saw a health record that included that information,” I offered, but Manny now focused entirely on his wife.

My mother-in-law was silent once again, but her smirk had been erased. She was nervous. It was subtle. But I could tell.

“Georgia, why is our son B+?” he asked her slowly. Lars and I looked at each other in confusion.

“What’s going on now? What does my blood type matter?” he asked his parents, who refused to answer him.

Finally, Manny said something; his eyes never left his wife’s face. “Because both your mother and I are O+. Scientifically, you can’t be B+, but here,” he tapped the DNA results with one hand, “it says you are. So, I’m asking your mother. Georgia, what does this mean?”

My jaw dropped so far I thought I might have pulled a muscle. I never dreamed of this scenario in a million years. My eyes went to Georgia, who was looking at her husband quietly and licking her lips nervously. She was also twisting her hands. Finally, she looked away from him, closed her eyes, and admitted.

Lars was not Manny’s biological son. She had cheated during their marriage with a close friend of the family. And finally, everything made sense.

“That’s why you accused me, right? You were guilty. You thought I was just as dishonest as you,” I said, raising one eyebrow at her. I felt my husband’s hand on my arm. My comment was a little sharp and added pain to the wound. But I was so mad. I couldn’t hold back.

Georgia started crying, going into her usual dramatics until Manny stood up and left. She followed him, and we let them be. They had many issues to deal with, and who would want to get involved?

“Are you ok?” I asked my husband, hugging him from behind.

“I guess. Well, I don’t know how Dad and I will handle this, but at least, we won’t have to worry about doubts regarding our son,” he replied, calmer than I expected.

“Still, it’s a lot to process.”

“Yeah, but whatever. We’ll be fine, and you and our baby are all that matters now,” Lars added, turning around and wrapping his arms around me. I leaned my head on his chest and just soaked it all in.

If you’re curious about my in-laws? Well, they got divorced, and the rest of the family learned why. It was a huge mess. To make matters worse, Georgia started seeing her affair partner – Lars’s biological dad – and tried to introduce him to us. They had apparently stayed in touch for years, and he knew he was Lars’s father. Wild, right?

But my husband stopped that immediately. We decided to cut ties with her completely afterward. Manny was his father. No one else. Even if he had supported his dramatic wife for a long time, he was done with her and apologized to us for suggesting the DNA test in the first place. All was well with us. For now, at least.

You just never know what can happen in a family.

A woman’s mother-in-law accused her of cheating and said her husband couldn’t be the child’s father.
