Dogs really are the perfect pets: they\u2019re such loyal companions, always there to lift our spirits with their unconditional love. Dogs have been known to improve people\u2019s wellbeing and mental health.<\/p>\n
And people of all walks of life rely on their dogs for comfort \u2014 even major Hollywood actors. Recently, one superhero star opened up about the difference his beloved pet has made in his life.<\/p>\n
British actor Henry Cavill is best known to audiences for playing the iconic hero Superman in recent hit blockbusters, from Man of Steel to Justice League. He\u2019s also appeared in Mission: Impossible \u2014 Fallout and Enola Holmes.<\/p>\n

But even \u201csuperheroes\u201d need a little help themselves, and Cavill recently opened up about the friend who has given him the most support: his dog, Kal.<\/p>\n
Fans who follow the star on social media are familiar with the actor\u2019s 8-year-old American Akita: Cavill is not shy about sharing photos of his pet pal online.<\/p>\n
In a post from last year he described Kal as \u201cpart dog, part bear, part pig and all soul,\u201d and called him an \u201cabsolute gem.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve had him since he was 10 weeks old and we have been through thick and thin together,\u201d Cavill wrote. \u201cWe actually spend so much time together, I\u2019m not sure who imitates who anymore!\u201d<\/p>\n
