She had no children with her late spouse, so she didn’t know where these deliveries came from.

Emma Richards was crushed when her husband died seven years ago. She had to care for herself for the rest of her life as no one else would.

She and her husband John have no children to care for her. When asked why, Emma always shrugged and avoided answering.

Emma was watching TV in her bedroom when the doorbell rang. Since she wasn’t expecting guests, she went to see who it was.

A 40-year-old delivery man stood with goods as she opened the front door. She couldn’t see his face through the mask.

“Hello. No package is expected. May I know who sent this? Emma inquired.

“Sorry ma’am, these packages were sent anonymously. Our security checked them and they’re safe. “These are for you,” he replied, setting the boxes on Emma’s doorside table.

“That seems odd… Thank you, beautiful boy, Emma said before closing the door.

Emma promptly opened the boxes once the delivery man left, interested about what was inside. The first delivery contained a new oven toaster, sandwich press, and coffee maker.

“Who would give me all of these?” she wondered. She opened the second box and found groceries and lovely clothes.

Emma started getting additional packages daily. She wanted to get to know the delivery man as he always delivered them.

“What is your name, sweet boy?” she said.

“My name is Ted Harrison,” the delivery man grinned. Mrs. Richards, the sender requested this. He handed her an envelope and said, “I’ll wait until you answer it.”

Emma opened and read it immediately, curious. Mrs. Richards, tell me what you need and I’ll give it to you.

“Oh, I want to know who gave me all these! I’m even asked to make requests!” she remarked.

“I’m sure the sender loves you very dearly, even though you don’t know who it is,” the delivery man smiled.

Emma wrote as requested. She just listed necessities to avoid the person spending too much.

That brief yet pleasant experience inspired Emma to make Ted the delivery man goodies. He delivered clothes, food, books, and other novelty goods to her residence for a month.

Emma adjusted to Ted’s companionship. He would munch with her and help with housekeeping she couldn’t handle.

Ted disappeared one day. Emma worriedly went to the post office to find him.

Hi, can you page Ted Harrison? She told the receptionist she wanted to give him donuts. Young woman appeared confused.

Sorry, madam. Nobody called Ted Harrison works here, she said.

He has been bringing my goods daily. That’s odd,” Emma said, disappointed. Not knowing where Ted was distressed her.

Many thoughts filled her head when she returned home. This nice Samaritan could be who? Did I visit the wrong post office? Was Ted impersonating a deliveryman?

She was shocked to find a small box in front of her front porch. She found a key and a note:

I hired a private investigator a month ago to find out where I came from and discovered the truth. I know you regret your actions and blame yourself. I don’t blame you and know you only wanted my best interests.

I was adopted because you and your husband couldn’t feed me. Though my wealthy family loved me like their own, something was always missing. Mom, I recognized you.

I miss you and want to spend more time with you. Please note that I bought a house. I copied your key if you wanted to live with me. Please let me look after you. Ted, your courier, with love.

Emma was shivering after reading the message. She couldn’t believe her son found her—she had always wanted to meet him before she died. Ted was that son! She cried as her old guilt returned.

Ted discovered the truth about their past. Emma and John were near bankruptcy when they discovered she was expecting. Ted was adopted because they recognized they couldn’t parent him well.

At months old, they placed their son in an orphanage. With his stuff, Emma included a letter explaining why they couldn’t parent him. Ted discovered Emma’s identity in the anonymous letter after convincing the orphanage directors to reveal his adoption paperwork.

Emma wanted Ted now. Someone knocked on her door as she prepared to depart for him. Ted was there when she opened it.

“Hi, mom,” Ted whispered.

Emma wept. Can’t believe it. My son,” she cried. So she hugged him and wouldn’t let go. I’m sorry, honey. Actually, I am. I beg your forgiveness,” Emma cried.

No need to apologize, mama. I’m here to spend more time with you. Not too late to start afresh. Ted claimed they might still be a family before breaking their hug.

Ted and Emma boxed her possessions that night. They loaded her belongings onto a vehicle outside to take to Ted’s residence.

Emma was shocked to see Ted’s wife and kids. They were as happy as Ted to welcome her into their home, and Emma never was alone again.

A poor, lonely old woman named Emma started getting daily presents from an unknown source.
