During the Wednesday episode of The View on ABC, long-time host Joy Behar, 80, told Whoopi Goldberg that she was \u201chappy\u201d when she was fired from the show back in 2013. Behar had been one of the original hosts of The View when it first appeared on television back in 1997 and was inexplicably fired from the talk show in 2013 for reasons the network did not want to reveal \u2013 but she was brought back to the program just two years later.<\/p>\n
The topic of Joy Behar\u2019s firing was brought up because the women on the show wanted to talk about an interview that Behar gave to Time Magazine last year. In the interview, she explained that she was \u201chappy\u201d to be fired from The View.<\/p>\n
Behar did not take getting fired from The View personally. She has dealt with career tragedies throughout the long time she has been on television and in Hollywood and has managed to bounce back every single time.<\/p>\n
According to her Time Magazine interview, \u201cI was glad to be fired (from The View). I was basically sick of the show at that point for some reason. I don\u2019t even remember why.\u201d<\/p>\n
During Wednesday\u2019s episode of The View, Behar replied, \u201cI always have friends where I work, and if I don\u2019t have friends at the job, I will not keep the job. So, when I was fired last time from this show, people said to me, \u2018Were you okay with that?\u2019 and my answer is, I was happy because all my friends had left already. So, there was no reason to stay anymore. I mean it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Whoopi Goldberg, who was a co-host of The View at the time Behar was fired, joked, \u201cReally? All your friends left?\u201d Goldberg then pretended to cry before adding, \u201cIt\u2019s okay. I\u2019m cool.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYou had just come on, and my backstage friends had left. And I don\u2019t like to work when I don\u2019t have friends,\u201d Behar said to defend herself.<\/p>\n
Goldberg was offended by the insinuation of Behar\u2019s comment. Goldberg fired back that they had \u201cbeen friends a long time\u201d by the time they were both co-hosts of The View in 2013. But Goldberg was not really offended, adding that she was only \u201cteasing\u201d Behar about her words.<\/p>\n
Behar has confirmed that she was fired from The View in 2013 and that it was not her decision to leave the popular daytime talk show.<\/p>\n
\u201cSomebody wanted me gone,\u201d she told People Magazine in 2017. \u201cIt was not 100 percent my choice. When they told me they weren\u2019t renewing, I said, \u2018Good, I\u2019m out of here.\u2019 I didn\u2019t like the way the show was going at that time.\u201d<\/p>\n
Behar seems to have a way about her when it comes to other people\u2019s insults.<\/p>\n
Fellow host of The View, Sunny Hosting, said, \u201cShe doesn\u2019t hold a grudge. I think because she doesn\u2019t remember what happened the day before.\u201d Hosting added that Behar will sometimes get reminded about an insult made against her, but she just shrugs it off and stays calm. \u201cThat\u2019s how she\u2019s been able to deal with this show. She just leaves it at the table and then moves on for another day.\u201d<\/p>\n
