A couple meets, falls head-over-heels in love, and only months later they\u2019re at the courthouse tying the knot.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s a familiar story\u2014except in this case, we\u2019re not talking about a young starry-eyed couple. Instead, it\u2019s two seniors, both over 100 years old<\/p>\n
John and Phyllis Cook are both residents of the Kingston Residence, a senior care facility in Sylvania, Ohio. With their apartments just a floor apart, they found each other and formed a strong connection.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo tell you the truth, we fell in love with each other,\u201d Phyllis, turning 103 this summer, told WNWO. \u201cI know you think that may be a little bit far-fetched for somebody our age, but we fell in love with each other.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWell, we were just compatible in a whole lot of ways, found ourselves enjoying each other\u2019s company,\u201d said John, a 100-year-old WWII veteran. They were both widows, having each been married twice before.<\/p>\n
Congratulations to the newlyweds! John and Phyllis met while living at Kingston. At the young ages of 103 and 100 years\u2026<\/p>\n
But their quality time together goes beyond playing Bingo. When asked what their favorite activity to do together was, John replied: \u201cWell, I probably shouldn\u2019t talk about that.\u201d<\/p>\n
Phyllis, however, was more candid:<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s not completely dead sexually and neither am I!\u201d Phyllis told KHOU 11. But she had her morals to consider: \u201cI just don\u2019t believe in hopping in bed as a Christian unless you\u2019re married.\u201d<\/p>\n
So John agreed to make an honest woman out of her, and they headed to the courthouse for a marriage certificate.<\/p>\n
Little did they realize they\u2019d leave the courthouse as man and wife.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt wasn\u2019t the plan, but we got here and they said we could marry you here,\u201d John told WNWO.<\/p>\n
He couldn\u2019t wait for married life to begin, clearly: \u201cI said \u2018good, let\u2019s get it over with.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
The couple can look forward to many happy years together. Despite their ages, they might have some good genes going for them: Phyllis\u2019 mother lived to be 106.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s a story that proves that you\u2019re never too old for a new romance and a new beginning.<\/p>\n
That said, the couple still knows the importance of having your own space, and Phyllis says they\u2019re each keeping their own apartment. Why rush things?<\/p>\n
