I was taking a walk in my neighborhood when a man was driving by and slowed down beside me. He rolled down his window and began asking me questions.<\/p>\n
\u201cAre you married?\u201d \u201cDo you have a boyfriend?\u201d I was uncomfortably answering his questions, but once he got to the fourth one, a young girl popped into view from the passenger\u2019s seat (I hadn\u2019t seen her previously). She couldn\u2019t have been more than 6 years old. She told this guy \u201cSTOP BOTHERING THIS WOMAN, SHE DON\u2019T WANT YOU!\u201d<\/p>\n
I couldn\u2019t help but laugh as the little girl crossed her arms and gave the man a stern look. The guy, clearly caught off guard, stammered, \u201cI\u2014 uh, she\u2014 I was just\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n
The girl didn\u2019t let him finish. She turned to me, looked me up and down like I was the most important person in the world, and declared, \u201cYou\u2019re way too cool for him. He\u2019s probably got a weird mustache or something.\u201d<\/p>\n
At that, the man\u2019s face went beet red, and I almost felt bad for him\u2014until I noticed the girl give him a \u201ctold-you-so\u201d look. <\/p>\n
\u201cThanks, kid,\u201d I said, laughing. \u201cYou\u2019ve got my back!\u201d<\/p>\n
As they drove off, the little girl waved at me. “Remember, lady, you don\u2019t need a boyfriend to have a good day!”<\/p>\n
I watched them drive away, the man\u2019s face still redder than a tomato, and couldn\u2019t help but think that maybe kids *did* have all the answers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
