A poor little boy is in tears after being teased by his classmates for the cheap Halloween costume his father made until the school principal shows up wearing the same.<\/p>\n

Levi loved his small house and his parents, Carol and Darren. They weren\u2019t rich, but they were there for one another and him, which he admired. But one afternoon, after returning home from school, Levi was upset with his parents.<\/p>\n

How could he not be upset? It was Halloween, the trick-or-treating season, and there was a fancy dress competition at his school, but Levi\u2019s parents didn\u2019t have enough money to get him a new costume.<\/p>\n

His classmates would all be dressed as Superman, Batman, or one of the Avengers, but he would have to make do with his old costume!<\/p>\n

\u201cHoney, please understand,\u201d Carol said. \u201cYou know, daddy and I are trying our best to save this house. We need to put money aside for the mortgage payment.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDo you not love me, mom?\u201d asked Levi sadly. \u201cI don\u2019t want the house. I want a new costume. But you love the house, not me!\u201d<\/p>\n

Carol sighed. \u201cIt\u2019s not like that, honey. Mommy and daddy love you the most! We love you more than anything!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNo!\u201d he screamed in tears. \u201cYou are lying! You don\u2019t love me! You love the house!\u201d<\/p>\n

With that, Levi disappeared to his room in tears and didn\u2019t come out even for dinner. No parent wants to see their children sad; even Carol didn\u2019t. Did she have a choice, though? Not really.<\/p>\n

They were drowned in loans, and their small shop just brought them enough to get by. But seeing Levi sad bothered her, so she discussed it with Darren over dinner.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s sad, hun,\u201d she said. \u201cCan we get him a new costume? If not, I\u2019ll find a part-time job.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t stress yourself out, honey,\u201d Darren said. \u201cYou already have too much on your plate right now. I\u2019ve got an idea\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Two days later, while Levi was eating dinner alone in his room, still upset with his parents about the costume, Darren walked in with a huge parcel in his hands.<\/p>\n

In this cruel world, we must stand up for one another and encourage the good.
\n\u201cCan I come in, little boy?\u201d he asked at the door.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, you can\u2019t,\u201d Levi said. He didn\u2019t even look up from his plate.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven if I say I got you a new costume?\u201d Darren asked. \u201cI thought you\u2019d be excited.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDid you?\u201d Levi looked at the parcel in Darren\u2019s hands and grinned. \u201cIs that a new outfit? Really?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, it is!\u201d said Darren. \u201cNow, can we have a little apology for mommy because you yelled at her two days ago? She was so worried about you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Levi was so excited to see his new costume that he bolted from his room and hugged Carol. \u201cYou and daddy love me! Not the house! I\u2019m so sorry, mom! Let\u2019s see my new costume together!\u201d He held her hands and ran so fast that she almost tripped.<\/p>\n

Then came the BIG moment. When Levi opened the parcel and saw the costume inside, he was in tears.<\/p>\n

\u201cIs that a robot?\u201d he asked. \u201cDad, mom, I love robots!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know you do, little boy,\u201d said Carol. \u201cDo you like it? Daddy made it for you!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI love it, mom and dad!\u201d chirped Levi, wiping his tears. \u201cI love it very much! And I love you so much! Thank you!\u201d<\/p>\n

Levi was delighted. He loved the robot costume Darren had made out of cardboard and duct tape. Yes, it wasn\u2019t expensive, but it had his heart and his dad\u2019s efforts.<\/p>\n

But on the day of the fancy dress event, Levi was crying because of the costume. He was sad because all his classmates were teasing him.<\/p>\n

\u201cLook, Levi is wearing a piece of colored cardboard!\u201d a boy said and laughed. \u201cHe couldn\u2019t even buy a new costume!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t say that, Tony!\u201d Levi protested, swallowing the tears in his eyes. \u201cMy dad worked hard on this! He went through videos on his computer, and he did so much hard work!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, did he?\u201d another kid said and chuckled with his friends. \u201cWell, that outfit makes you look like a loser! I bet your dad\u2019s a loser too!\u201d<\/p>\n

All the kids were so mean to Levi that he started crying. When his name was called, he didn\u2019t show up on the stage and instead cried backstage.<\/p>\n

Soon, the show was over, and everyone got to flaunt their costumes except Levi.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m so sorry, dad\u2026\u201d He sniffed. \u201cI didn\u2019t even take part in the competition! I wasted your hard work! I\u2019m sorry\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Suddenly, Levi heard a loud gasp. He looked at the stage and couldn\u2019t believe his eyes. The school principal, Mr. Frederick, was on the stage, and he was dressed as a robot! A red one, unlike Levi, who was wearing a blue costume.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhere is my fellow robot? Levi, where are you, child?\u201d he called out from the stage.<\/p>\n

\u201cMr. Frederick?\u201d Levi exclaimed as he stepped onto the stage. \u201cYou have the same costume as me!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCall me, Captain Red!\u201d he said stiffly. \u201cAgent Blue, you got a nice suit there! Mine took so much time to make!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou look cool, Captain Red!\u201d Levi smiled, having forgotten his worries. \u201cMy dad made me this suit! I just love it!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s wonderful, Agent Blue! I\u2019ll ask your dad to make me a suit next time! I saw some kids didn\u2019t appreciate your costume, so I thought, why not show them they\u2019re wrong? You know what? I love your outfit! You\u2019re lucky! Your dad spends love on you, which is more important than just spending money on children\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

That day, Levi won the competition. His dress stood out from the bunch of Spidermans, Batmans, Avengers, and Disney princesses, and he had a huge smile on his face as he lifted the trophy with Captain Red!<\/p>\n

At that point, the group of mean kids huddled around Levi and apologized. \u201cWE ARE SORRY, LEVI!\u201d they cried in unison. \u201cYour costume was awesome!\u201d<\/p>\n

Levi was happy that the other kids loved his costume. He shared the big basket of candies he had won as a part of the prize with them and said, \u201cIt\u2019s ok! I\u2019m not sad anymore. Let\u2019s not be mean to others, ok? Mommy and daddy say we should love each other!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s absolutely right, Levi,\u201d Mr. Frederick said gently. \u201cAlways remember, kids, that we need to stand up for each other and encourage the good in this world. Never put others down!
