A man looked down upon a young woman because she worked as a cleaner. But soon after, something happened, and the man couldn\u2019t get her out of his head.<\/p>\n

Mrs. Miller was in a good mood because her son Chris was coming to visit her. He had lately purchased a one-room apartment next to his mother\u2019s building and had decided to relocate there. Since the woman was old, Chris wanted to stay closer to her.<\/p>\n

Chris worked in a law firm, where he was a leading specialist. He had a good job and salary, and for the most part, Mrs. Miller didn\u2019t have to worry about Chris\u2019 life.<\/p>\n

The only thing that bothered her was the fact that Chris had been living alone for a long period after his divorce from his first wife. His wife had an affair with her boss and left Chris for him.<\/p>\n

Before Chris arrived to meet her, Mrs. Miller took extra care to ensure that everything was according to Chris\u2019 choices. She baked his favorite oatmeal cookies and made his favorite chocolate pudding.<\/p>\n

When Chris entered his mom\u2019s house, he couldn\u2019t contain himself and hugged his mom tightly. But as he was hugging his mother, his gaze was drawn to a young woman in the hallway wearing a cloak and saying goodbye to his mother. The girl quickly left, nodding to Chris on her way.<\/p>\n

Chris looked at his mother in surprise, \u201cWho was that young woman?\u201d<\/p>\n

Mrs. Miller smiled. \u201cWeren\u2019t you the one who hired a cleaner for me through the agency?\u201d<\/p>\n

Mrs. Miller blushed. \u201cWhat do you mean by \u2018how is she?\u2019 She\u2019s a nice girl. Hardworking, quiet, and dedicated to her work. Why don\u2019t you go and ask her yourself?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, not everyone is like Helen, Chris,\u201d Mrs. Miller replied, referring to his ex-wife. \u201cThere are nice girls too. For example, didn\u2019t you like this girl?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, she\u2019s young and pretty,\u201d Chris said after a pause. \u201cBut what\u2019s the point in working as a cleaner? The job is so disgusting.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mrs. Miller was taken aback. \u201cDo you even know why she works as a cleaner, Chris? How can you judge someone like that? For your information, Mary is a student pursuing law at the state university. Her parents died when she was young, and she works as a cleaner part-time to support herself.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chris frowned. He felt he was wrong to judge her. However, he still didn\u2019t like the fact that the girl worked as a cleaner.<\/p>\n

Two days later, Chris noticed Mary again when he revisited his mom\u2019s house. While Mrs. Miller was busy making tea for the evening, Chris took a seat in the hall and kept looking at her. The girl cleaned fast and neatly, her honed and smooth movements resembling a tidy and orderly routine.<\/p>\n

As Mrs. Miller finished making tea, she arranged cups on the table and invited Mary to join her for tea. She was hesitant, but Mrs. Miller somehow convinced her to join her and Chris for the evening.<\/p>\n

As Mary took a seat, Chris instantly asked her, \u201cIf you\u2019re a law student, why don\u2019t you work part-time at a law firm? Actually, you can join my company. I don\u2019t think cleaning pays you enough.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mary gave him a warm smile. \u201cThanks for your concern, but I don\u2019t mind doing this job. I get paid on time every month, and that\u2019s enough for me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Once Mary was gone, Mrs. Miller looked at Chris. He couldn\u2019t take his gaze away from Mary till she left. Mrs. Miller knew that her son was starting to like Mary.<\/p>\n

Several weeks later, these tea parties became common. Mrs. Miller\u2019s house was a frequent stop for Mary after work, and Chris and Mary discussed everything \u2014 Chris\u2019 work, Mary\u2019s studies, and Mrs. Miller\u2019s illness.<\/p>\n

Once Mrs. Miller asked Chris to take Mary out on a date, but Chris declined because he thought it would be inappropriate to ask her out so soon. However, because Mrs. Miller kept insisting, he finally agreed.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll see him at the restaurant,\u201d Mrs. Miller said. \u201cIt\u2019s my birthday today, so I want you to join us. I hope you won\u2019t decline my invitation.\u201d<\/p>\n
