The family of Johhny Cash has retained counsel to stop Garth Brooks from opening \u201can unauthorized memorial\u201d in Johnny\u2019s hometown of Nashville.<\/p>\n
Brooks, whose bar \u201cFriends in Low Places\u201d will be opening soon, planned to dedicate a second-floor exhibit to the country great who left us more than 20 years ago.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Cash family is upset with Garth\u2019s stance on some polarizing issues,\u201d said Attorney Joe Barron, \u201cHe never got permission to use Johnny\u2019s likeness or to have a memorial within a few thousand feet of the Johnny Cash Museum.\u201d<\/p>\n
Basically, Brooks made a couple of mistakes. \u201cWe would have overlooked the permission and signed off no problem,\u201d said Horatio Neufield Cash, one of Johnny\u2019s favorite grandchildren, \u201cbut he went and spat in the face of grampa\u2019s own fans.\u201d<\/p>\n
Now, Brooks will be left with a vacant spot on the second floor, that his spokesman, Art Tubolls, says he\u2019ll probably fill with a tribute to his favorite Drag Queens.<\/p>\n
\u201cGarth is an advocate for most liberal ideals, so having a tribute to drag is only prudent,\u201d said Tubolls, \u201che\u2019s also planning on having an area in the back of the bar for children with a limited drink menu. Nothing too strong for the tykes.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to Tennessee law, parents are allowed to offer their children beer and wine, but not spirits, so the kiddie area will qualify under the day care rule. God bless America.<\/p>\n
